Slowing Things Down
“Things do not change; we change.” ― Henry David Thoreau
How do you see yourself in 2026?
What’s in store for you?
I’m going to start by consuming less …
Less anxiety
Less social media
Less guilt
During my last acupuncture appointment I came in asking for anxiety relief. Dr. K hesitates, looks over at me, says ‘Okay, but what’s going on?’
I keep insisting that he treat me for anxiety which he eventually did, he is still asking me to tell him what’s going on. I finally offered up a recap of the short list, and he quickly reminded me that I can’t save everybody. Truth.
That’s it, that is what I needed to hear. I needed to put some space between myself and other people’s struggles, from the internet and the constant stimulation, something I encourage and yet I often forget.
Maybe you need to hear this too. Whatever you feel you need, please take it. Is it time off, time alone, a nap? And I don’t mean this as advice, I mean it as a big collective deep breath I think most of us skip over because we know how to power through so much before we stop.
I can’t remember a year or a holiday season that felt quite like this one. In my profession, clients often speak about overwhelm and finding focus and needing more time in the day. This year has been much more … we receive a barrage of information all day long, and we don’t always know to shut it down.
I used to think it was manageable, there was a way to curate my feed online, to say no to things, but this energy I’m feeling is different. It’s volatile, showy, hard. I want softer, cozy, slower.
Today I am making fewer commitments, I’m savoring time for me and this book I’m trying to finish and most importantly, carving out time to spend with my partner.
In January we’re celebrating my birthday, and when we return I’m opening up space for an online retreat, ‘An Invitation to Move Softly into 2026.’
Join me in mid January for a soft entrance into the new year. Four intimate virtual group gatherings from January 18th - February 8th.
Details will be sent out very soon, if you’re interested, you can register now or you can wait for more information. Think soft, grounding, intuitive, discernment ….
***Our last Story Exchange in 2025 is Friday, Dec. 19th
We are close to our last Story Exchange of 2025, and I’m not sad about it because we will carry on in 2026. Our Story Exchange has grown, and the feedback has been 100% positive this far. We may have another new participant or two this week, it’s hard to say during the holidays. Remember - “Enough is a Feast” A Buddhist Proverb. Let’s come share one more story this year together, the time is noon on Friday December 19th. Message me for your zoom link.

Love the opening quote...and the aspirations here. All good. Thanks.
Needed this today! XO
